Are Non-Woven Bags Recyclable?

Non-woven bags are made out of non-woven polypropylene sheets. These sheets are made by bonding polypropylene fibers together via chemical, thermal or mechanical operation. The bonded fibers make the most convenient fabric yet experienced in the realms of shopping and home use. The reasons why most retailers offer non-woven bags for their customers are many, and the ecological concerns are also factored.
Non-woven bags are very practical because of their light, strong, durable and inexpensive nature. They also reduce the resources wasted in shipping because of their lightweight nature and space efficiency. These bags are soft, flexible and comfortable to carry, and that is also why they are used to make medical equipment used in surgical wards. They make suitable replacements for the weak and easily torn plastic paper gowns. Due to their porosity, they also make good storage for fresh fruits and vegetables.

They are also great because they can reduce the plastic waste products carelessly disposed of in seas, rivers and man-made drainages. Most manufacturers in the non-woven bags business recycle the waste plastic already harming the environment and produce good and durable bags from such waste. They make suitable replacements for the eco-disastrous paper bags that couldn’t serve shopping needs for long without reaping, tearing or deforming.

Non-woven bags indeed do promote an eco-friendly society and economy. Apart from the fact that their manufacturing recycles already used plastic, they reduce further plastic disposal. The tote bags used by shoppers and prized away by retailers are reusable thanks to the qualities of the non-woven polypropylene fabric. Unlike paper bags, non-woven bags are easy to clean because of their porosity, strength and durability. This makes them even more reusable, and they end up reducing the wasteful usage of paper bags which have clogged up drainages, rivers, seas and oceans ultimately harming the ecosystem and killing marine life.

Non-woven bags are also ecofriendly because their manufacturing process is more energy efficient compared to that of cotton bags and paper bags. Studies suggest that the cost of production and energy demands would reduce further if more companies abandoned the production of plastic bags and started producing non-woven bags. This is because the science and technology used would advance and become cheaper. The overall effect would be better economics for countries and healthier eco-systems as well.

Recycling Non-Woven Bags

Recyclers collect the remnants of used and disposed non-woven bags and run them through a melting machine. They then eliminate all the various colors by immersing Polypropylene pellets into the melted liquid. The colorless mixture is then colored by the addition of colored pellets. Afterward, the recyclers pour and spread the mixture on a heated flat surface. It is then compressed with large rollers to required thicknesses and allowed to cool. Recycling non-woven bags leads to the reduction of wasted plastic by 25 percent. Imagine the good removing a quarter of the plastic waste killing marine life!

Additional Benefits
Non-woven polypropylene bags are great for promotional purposes. Not only do they offer clients exquisite convenience, but they are also durable and reusable. Additionally, they can be dyed and colored differently. They are also very easy to print on for relaying brand messages.
